Once upon a time, people used to think that mirrors are only used to view one’s face. They put it inside their houses for its functionality. But now, with a lot of things being discovered in the field of interior designing, mirrors can also be used for decorative and functional purpose as well.

Mirrors essentially give a house an illusion of space. It is the reason why more and more interior designers love using mirrors. They can be used for utility needs and for making the design personalized and classy. Even though we are not interior designers, we can add mirrors in our homes to make it pleasing and attractive. Here are some ways of using decorative mirrors:

First, use it for its functional purpose for example, in the bathroom, or in your bedroom. You can also place it in places where you usually fix yourself before leaving for work, example in the dressing room or in the closet. It doesn’t matter where you place it but the most important thing is that you are utilizing its basic use.

Secondly, decorative mirrors can be used as an accent piece in any corner of your home. You can place a mirror in the living room, or in the corridors. It doesn’t matter if it’s a big or a small decorative mirror. All that matters in that it blends with the style and it perfectly accents the over-all look of your home. You don’t need to match the colors of your house with the mirror. Try neutral colors to create a classic look in your home. Or you can actually be adventurous and add mirrors with brighter colors (as long as it won’t look like you’re trying hard to blend colors with your home décor).

You can make a room look more bright and cheery by placing mirrors in front of a window to open the room with the reflection from outside. Or you can hang decorative mirrors in a small room to make it a lot bigger and spacious than it really is.

But the most important thing is that whatever we do with our home, they should always be on our budget. You don’t need to spend more if can actually spend less. There are mirrors that are priced from $100-$1000. Before you leave the house to shop, you should have an outline of the budget for decorative mirrors. This will help you a lot especially if there are plenty of choices that you can pick from. It would be better if you already have an idea on the size, shape, color and purpose of the mirror to cut off your picking time. You should also have an idea on what the room would look like after you placed the mirror. Never mix contemporary and traditional styles as it may destroy the whole illusion that you want to achieve.
